OEM lenses providing best in class at lower costs

1st Vision‘s factory automation OEM machine vision lenses are designed using glass from one of the top Japanese lens manufacturers. These lenses are not branded and allow our clients to have excellent performance at a better price than the ‘named’ brand manufacturers since there are no marketing costs!

In their class, they offer the most bang for the buck!

In comparing specifications, our OEM lenses have better resolution in many cases over brand name lenses, but at ~ 30% less cost! in some cases.   If used in an OEM design, a non branded lens will ensure customers are coming to you for replacements and ensure the same performance.

Details specifications can be found HERE.

As we know selecting a lens can have its challenges, our staff of degree’d sales engineers are here to help!  We can help pair the best lens with the given camera and image sensor to maximize performance.

Best of all.. 1st Vision has these in stock!

All our our OEM lenses can be purchased on-line HERE

We also have several blog posts providing additional education on lens selection including handy focal length calculators.

What can the new low cost AVT GoldEye Short Wave Infrared ( SWIR ) camera do for you?

Allied Vision Goldeye cameras with InGaAs sensor technology enables you to see further into the infrared spectral range than classic CCD / CMOS cameras.  Due to the cameras high sensitivity in the Short Wave InfraRed (SWIR) range of 900-1700 nm, new applications become possible.

What applications can be solved with SWIR?

SWIR cameras help provide contrast and emphasize features in various applications due to the nature of the wavelengths.  Applications ranging from agricultural (food), textile, semiconductor and surveillance, allows the ability to see through materials that are opaque to the eye with SWIR.

Several models are available to help solve these applications.

Goldeye cameras are now available with Camera link interfaces in addition to GigE and are low cost!    Contact us for a quote!

The following are a few examples of Short Wave InfraRed (SWIR ) applications:

Solar Cell Inspection

Light emitted by silicon in solar cells peak at 1150nm and are impossible to detect using normal CCD/CMOS cameras.

Using SWIR cameras, luminescent imaging helps identify non uniformities at 1150nm

Semiconductor Inspection

At wavelengths above 1100 nm silicon becomes transparent.

In turn, SWIR cameras are perfect for analyzing metallization and electrical contact errors on the backside of wafers.

Surveillance Applications

SWIR cameras minimize fog and smoke in surveillance applications allowing scenes not present in the visible realm to be seen.

Other applications include:  Airborne Remote sensing (UAV’s), Food inspection, Moisture Detection, Glass production, Recycling, Scientific & Medical Hyper-spectral imaging, Vision Enhancement and more..

Goldeye Short Wave InfraRed cameras now available with Camera LInk and GigE

Allied Vision has now released the new low cost Goldeye G-008 camera in Camera Link creating a comprehensive family of SWIR cameras.

Models now available include the following:

Camera Highlights

  • High frame rates at multiple resolutions

  • Camera link or GigE Vision Interface
  • Comprehensive I/O Control options
  • Automated on board image correction
  • Stabilized sensor cooling, no fan
  • Extended operating temperature range
  • ROI Setting for frame rate and data rate control
  • High analog gain mode to increase sensitivity

Data sheets and additional information for all SWIR camera’s can be found HERE.

UPDATE:  Allied Vision has provide a video detailing SWIR Technology.

Image Sensor Chaos – Sony Pregius vs ON-Semi Python – What is best for my camera application?

Which image sensor and camera is best for my application?

This is total Chaos with so many new sensors!

The image sensor market has rapidly changed in the past year, and has become very chaotic in determining the best image sensor and camera for an application.

Sony and ON-Semiconductor have both launched a family of image sensors which provide global shutter using advanced CMOS designs resulting in high speed, crisp images.

These CMOS sensors are now a viable alternative to CCD’s and older CMOS technology, providing higher performance and lower costs.

BUT.. Which one is most suited for my application?

Its best to start with understanding what is most important application.  Do we need speed?  Low noise?  Dynamic Range? or maybe a combination of attributes.

1st Vision has helped make sense of the chaos in providing some considerations and comparisons between the Sony Pregius and ON-Semi Python Series sensors in the following chart.

From the data, you can use these general guidelines

  • If you need the highest speed,  ON-Semi is your choice.
  • If you need the highest dynamic range, Sony Pregius is your choice.
  • As a great general all around sensor, the Pregius IMX249 sells for ~ $500 in both GigE and USB3  This camera is 2.3MP @ 40fps and can be used in VGA, XGA SXGA modes by setting a ROI.   Read about various resolutions with setting a ROI

Most applications however are not that simple to just choose an image sensor based on speed or dynamic range. In many cases it requires a combination of many factors such as signal to noise, quantum efficiency and saturation capacity.

1st Vision has more specific data we can discuss with you from various tests we have run and applications solved.

PLEASE CONTACT US TO DISCUSS YOUR APPLICATION and receive more detailed information.

SVS-Vistek IP67 cameras with direct drive for LED illumination

SVS-VISTEK makes it easier and more cost efficient to integrate industrial cameras for machine vision into harsh environments.  The BlackLine Series ECO and ECO^2 cameras are equipped with water and dust proof housings (IP67 protection) and M12 connectivity for industrial wiring.  This series features direct drive and control of LED illumination from the camera eliminating external controllers.

These are perfect for industrial automation, robotics and harsh environment applications.  All cameras are GigE Vision compliant and work with 3rd party vision software such as Cognex Vision Pro, National Instruments, Halcon &  MV Tech.

Key Features for the Blackline Series

  • IP67 Protection
  • M12 Connectivity
  • Direct Drive and Control of LED Illumination with power cables available for CCS LED illumination.
  • Advanced I/O functions and hardware supporting industrial automation
  • Advanced thermal management.  (-10 deg C to + 45 deg C)
  • Series includes resolutions from VGA to 5MP using Sony and ON-Semiconductor image sensors
  • GigE Vision compliant  – fully compatible with 3rd party vision software packages

All specifications for the Blackline Series can be found HERE.

A key feature in the ECO Series is the ability to direct drive LED illumination in continuous and strobe modes.  This feature allows the camera to be used as a strobe controller saving costs.

Direct Drive of LED illumination features include

  • Built in ability to strobe up to 3 Amperes
  • Power of the LED light is provided through power of the camera
  • Setting of pulse width and duty cycle is controller via GigE standard Cat 5 cable
  • Up to 2 LED illuminators can be used simultaneously and independent from each other.
  • Control commands are integrated into SDK

Industrial Automation support
Integration into industrial automation is supported with SVS’s powerful SVCam I/O functions and IOMUX switch matrix.  The IOMUX switch connects inputs and outputs with the various functions of SVCam I/O.  This allows a combination of inputs with Boolean arguments for more advanced deployments.

Watch this short video showing 4 easy steps to for industrial field connectivity!

SVCam I/O supports various functions in conjunction with the IOMUX switch.  These include a Sequencer, Pulseloop, debouncer and Prescaler function.  A quick start guide to the I/O controls can be found HERE
