Learn how the new IDS Imaging GigE Vision IP65/67 cameras can save you money

IDS Imaging Factory Automation (IP65/67) cameras have been released with key features to help save money on industrial installations.

The new versions are “plug & play” with 3rd party GigE Vision software such as Cognex Vision Pro & National Instruments Vision software.

The IDS Imaging GigE uEye FA (Factory Automation) industrial cameras are specifically designed for harsh environments, providing IP65/67 protection using a GigE interface.

Using a water tight lens barrel and M12 connector eliminates the need for costly IP65/67 enclosures, saving space and additional assembly costs.  Attractively priced, the FA cameras are an excellent camera for harsh environments versus standard cameras with enclosures.

Key Features are as follows:

  • IP65 / IP67 Protection – Eliminates the need for an additional costly enclosure, protecting against dirt, dust and water splashing.
  • GigE Vision compliant models – “GV” models available for use with GigE Vision compliant 3rd party vision software or use with the robust IDS Imaging Cockpit software and SDK using the “UI” models
  • Compact size with IP65/67 protection – Measuring 41mm x 52mm x 43mm long, the camera design provides less volume than using additional enclosures with non IP rated cameras
  • 8-Pin IP Rated connectors – Used for GPIO, trigger and flash within harsh environments.
  • GigE PoE Interface – Using Power over Ethernet (PoE), one cable can be utilized for data and power saving money on installations.
  • Resolutions from 2.3 to 5MP using the Popular Sony Pregius CMOS image sensors (IMX249, IMX265), IMX264) in Mono and Color models

IDS uEye cameras configured for IDS Imaging Software & SDK, provide you with an extensive development platform supporting Windows, Linux and embedded platforms.  (Learn more about the IDS Imaging software here,.. which is free! )

Popular Sony Pregius Image sensors expand camera lines with 3.1MP and 5MP resolutions – Download the comparison chart!

Sony’s popular Pregius (IMX) image sensors have expanded the camera offering with 3.1MP and 5MP resolutions.

This sensor has continued to impress us with high dynamic range, low noise and excellent sensitivity.   (Learn more on this image sensor here )

As debuted in the 2.3MP, IMX174 and IMX249 sensors, the image sensors are released with slow and fast versions of a given resolution.  This directly translates to lower and higher cost cameras within a given resolution.  In cases where you do not need speed, you can benefit from the great performance without paying a premium for speed.  Speed is there if desired, but at a small premium.

This has provides camera manufacturers a nice price vs performance offering covering various resolutions… and the offering will continue to expand.

Having a hard time keeping up with all the new sensor models?  So are we!

1stVision has created a document to help review the Sony Pregius sensors at a glance.

Resolution, sensor format, frame rate are included along with data for comparison.

We will continue to update this document as new camera lines are added!  Stay tuned.

What can the new low cost AVT GoldEye Short Wave Infrared ( SWIR ) camera do for you?

Allied Vision Goldeye cameras with InGaAs sensor technology enables you to see further into the infrared spectral range than classic CCD / CMOS cameras.  Due to the cameras high sensitivity in the Short Wave InfraRed (SWIR) range of 900-1700 nm, new applications become possible.

What applications can be solved with SWIR?

SWIR cameras help provide contrast and emphasize features in various applications due to the nature of the wavelengths.  Applications ranging from agricultural (food), textile, semiconductor and surveillance, allows the ability to see through materials that are opaque to the eye with SWIR.

Several models are available to help solve these applications.

Goldeye cameras are now available with Camera link interfaces in addition to GigE and are low cost!    Contact us for a quote!

The following are a few examples of Short Wave InfraRed (SWIR ) applications:

Solar Cell Inspection

Light emitted by silicon in solar cells peak at 1150nm and are impossible to detect using normal CCD/CMOS cameras.

Using SWIR cameras, luminescent imaging helps identify non uniformities at 1150nm

Semiconductor Inspection

At wavelengths above 1100 nm silicon becomes transparent.

In turn, SWIR cameras are perfect for analyzing metallization and electrical contact errors on the backside of wafers.

Surveillance Applications

SWIR cameras minimize fog and smoke in surveillance applications allowing scenes not present in the visible realm to be seen.

Other applications include:  Airborne Remote sensing (UAV’s), Food inspection, Moisture Detection, Glass production, Recycling, Scientific & Medical Hyper-spectral imaging, Vision Enhancement and more..
