And many shared features such as advanced image correction: lens shading, defect pixel correction, and low-noise image acquisition.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"504\" height=\"543\" src=\"https:\/\/www.1stvision.com\/machine-vision-solutions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/AlliedVisionHRseries.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5293\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.1stvision.com\/machine-vision-solutions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/AlliedVisionHRseries.jpg 504w, https:\/\/www.1stvision.com\/machine-vision-solutions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/AlliedVisionHRseries-278x300.jpg 278w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 504px) 100vw, 504px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">One member of the Allied Vision HR camera series &#8211; Courtesy Allied Vision<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s NOT the point of this short article to cover the entire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stvision.com\/cameras\/family\/Allied-Vision\/HR-Series-high-resolution-cameras?siq_name=$[FNAME]$$[LNAME]$&amp;siq_email=$[EMAIL]$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HR series<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our focus is on two particular features available on certain members of the HR series, each of which brings something special.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HR RF Mount models<\/strong>&nbsp;feature a native <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Canon_RF_lens_mount\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Canon RF mount<\/a>, enabling the use of Canon RF lenses for large-format imaging applications requiring high-performance optics and a wide range of focal lengths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HR T (TEC) models<\/strong>&nbsp;feature <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Thermoelectric_heat_pump\">thermoelectric cooling<\/a> and heating (TEC) to regulate sensor temperature. Maintaining a stable sensor temperature helps reduce dark current, thermal noise, and sensor drift while improving image consistency for long exposure, scientific imaging, and precision inspection applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HR RF mount characteristics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The RF mount introduced optical, electronic, and economic benefits.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Optics<\/strong>: Per Canon, &#8220;RF lenses can be constructed with larger diameter, rear-positioned elements. This type of design helps reduce the bending of light rays as they pass through the lens, which reduces aberrations and improves overall image quality. Courtesy Canon<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Electronics:<\/strong> The RF mount has a 12-pin connection between the camera and lens. This enables much fast communication between lens and camera, and with bandwidth for data transfer.&nbsp; Software may control a variety of settings such as shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another benefit is&nbsp;in-camera correction&nbsp;of optical aberrations and real-time Digital Lens Optimisation (DLO). DLO data is stored within RF lenses and can be read automatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Economics:<\/strong> Because the mount covers a wide range of focal lengths, but with a short 20 mm flange distance, the lenses may be made more compact and lightweight.  This reduces materials and production costs, a benefit that can be passed to the buyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HR T TEC model characteristics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Thermoelectric cooling (TEC) uses the Peltier-Seebeck effect to transport the heat from the main board of the camera to the housing, thereby cooling the mainboard and improving efficiency of the camera sensors by reducing dark current. When the mainboard heats up during operation, a difference in voltage will build up between the housing and the mainboard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result, the mainboard is cooled whereas the housing gets warmer.
