\nWhy use a LED Lighting Controller?<\/span><\/b>

\n<\/span>LED Light Controllers are an essential element of any vision system which needs to optimize\u00a0illumination intensity and precision trigger sequencing between vision cameras and lights. The following are the main areas where you will benefit from the use of an LED light controller:<\/span>

\n<\/span>Pulse (or strobe) control<\/span><\/u>
\nWhere you need to synchronize\u00a0the ON time of your light with the camera and target product (controllers are available for nano-second timing resolution)<\/span>

\nLED Technology Overview<\/span><\/b>

\n<\/span><\/span><\/a>LEDs are current driven devices. \u00a0While LED Lights are specified as\u00a0either 12V or 24V lights, the actual\u00a0LEDs are semiconductor devices\u00a0whose light output is a direct result of\u00a0the current through the device, not the\u00a0voltage.\u00a0<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>All LED device manufacturers\u00a0specify that current control is advised\u00a0for efficient use. \u00a0Typically, LED datasheets will indicate\u00a0that very small changes in LED voltage\u00a0results in large changes in the LED\u00a0current; and large changes in LED\u00a0current results in large changes in light\u00a0output intensity.\u00a0<\/span>

\n<\/span>As seen in the diagram to the right, small changes in forward voltage (Vf),greatly change current ( If )<\/i><\/span>
