A frame is the entire acquisition of an image. A frame begins with the exposure of the sensor and ends with the image being read from the sensor.
The definition is also valid for the sensor operation mode "Linescan", where the exposure and the readout are done line by line.
The transfer of the image from the camera to the system is not part of the content of a frame.
