Megapixel Lenses

Megapixel lenses are specifically designed for applications where the user is considering a camera with high resolution.

Be aware, the ratings given by the lens manufacturers are somewhat meaningless. A lens rating in megapixels is not what is needed, a MTF curve is!

Also, realize that even with a megapixel camera, unless you are looking to the pixel level, a common machine vision lens might be adequate.

Finally, Fujinon's new 5 Megapixel lenses have great optical performance, however, they are a bit bigger than the standard lenses.
